I've always considered people in the media to be the luckiest. I am sure they wouldn't agree but looking at the way media influences us, be it politics, economics, entertainment or knowledge of any kind, we always look up to the printed word..and now to the digital word too! That the power of the media, especially in a democracy like India where people's opinions on govt policies changes faster than a chameleon can change colour! Wouldn't it be wise therefore for the sensible politician to start his own newspaper or TV channel? Indeed, the first step in becoming a people's man would be to actively take part in social change and make one's intentions well known thro' the media.
And now from the humble social servant( as our politicians would love to be called) to the writer. The pen is mightier than the sword they say. How true and the keyboard is mightier still. Karl Marx influenced more than half the world with his revolutionary ideas. It was during the days when print was the chief means of communication. Move ahead a century and what a stunning growth in communication we're witnessing. Information spreads like fire engulfing the minds of the masses. In this era of wireless communication, ipods, blogs, web 2.0 and whatnot, who do you think is king? Well, no prizes for guessing! Its the writer. And so I have begun my journey.
